With over 2,000 miles of Pacific Crest Trail experience and extensive trekking across Yosemite, Zion, and Joshua Tree, she brings expert knowledge and enthusiasm to every hike.

As a certified Wilderness First Responder and former member of Bear Valley Search and Rescue, Shauna ensures your safety while sharing insights about Big Bear’s history, flora, ecology, and more. She’s also an active part of the community, dedicated to keeping local trails safe and sustainable.

Environmental Policy
At Big Bear Hiking Adventures, protecting the natural environment is central to our mission. Our business exists because of the beauty, wildlife, forests, and public lands that make Big Bear a special place to explore. We are committed to conducting our operations in a way that minimizes our environmental impact and supports the long-term health of the mountain community.

To support this commitment, we:

1. Follow and promote Leave No Trace principles on every hike.
2. Educate guests about responsible recreation, wildlife awareness, and forest stewardship.
3. Partner with local conservation and community organizations whenever possible.
4. Reduce waste by using digital waivers, online booking systems, electronic communications, and QR codes in place of printed materials whenever practical.
5. Purchase previously used furniture, equipment, and supplies when appropriate.
6. Use environmentally responsible printed materials, including recycled-content or FSC-certified paper products when printing is necessary.
7. Encourage carpooling and responsible transportation practices for hiking events.
8. Continually look for ways to reduce waste, conserve resources, and improve the sustainability of our operations.

Requirements for hire

  1. Must have minimum 3 years of outdoor experience
  2.  Provide proof of personal insurance
  3.  Provide proof of covid vaccination and booster
  4.  Provide current CPR and First Aid cards (or training provided by BBHA)
  5.  Knowledge of local history (suggestions provided by BBHA)
  6.  Knowledge of local flora and fauna (suggestions provided by BBHA)
  7. Able to perform job requirements (provided by BBHA)
  8. Follow current Guide Procedures (provided by BBHA).
